WHAT IS SEXUAL PLEASURE?

To fully understand the meaning of sexual pleasure, it’s essential to define pleasure. Pleasure can be described as a state of human emotions and mental states that create an entertaining, enjoyable, and satisfying experience. Sexual pleasure is, therefore, a feeling of satisfaction and enjoyment derived from engaging in sexual activity.

What’s fascinating about human beings is our capacity to receive and also give sexual pleasure. More importantly, you are capable of pleasuring yourself. Contrary to popular belief, what is pleasurable sexually isn’t limited to physical activity such as sexual intercourse. It also includes sexual fantasies and thoughts.

However, for sexual pleasure to happen, whether for men and women, the sexual activities need to be consensual. The feelings of attraction, intimacy, and consent may eventually build up to sexual activity. What is important to remember is that the pleasures of sex vary for everyone, whether or not they end up in an orgasm.

Women Pleasure

For years, female pleasure was regarded as a mysterious concept, with conversations around pleasuring vulva havers often limited. However, in current years, the drive towards changing the entitlement of sexual pleasure among women has increased. Pleasuring yourself and pleasuring a sexual partner involves a deep understanding of sexual arousal, and also an acceptance of sexual pleasure.

In case you’re wondering how to pleasure a partner, there are several ways to do it. First, it’s essential to identify erogenous zones. They include:

  • Mouth
  • Neck
  • Breasts
  • Inner thighs
  • Vagina
  • Vulva
  • Anus

The planned touching, caressing, kissing, and licking of erogenous zones leads to arousal and, if aroused enough, often leads to an orgasm.

Pleasure for Males

The male orgasm is often seen as a source of pregnancy. It, however, is also the climax of sexual activity. The primary drive for sexual pleasure in penis havers is a hormone called testosterone. A variation is the hormones can affect a male’s sexual drive.
Just like females, arousal is the first step of pleasuring a male. While attraction is powerful, physical arousal is also vital for sexual pleasure for men. Some of the erogenous zones that partners can explore during sexual activity include:

  • The scalp
  • Ear lobes
  • Navel
  • Prostate gland
  • Penis

Touching and licking the majority of erogenous parts during sexual intimacy creates sexual pleasure for men and women.

Health Benefits

Sex is more than a psychological and physical feeling. It has beneficial effects on the body, especially if done correctly and done frequently. Engaging in sexual activity in itself is a sign of normal development. Sexual activity such as hugging, caressing, and touching are great ways to reduce tension in the body. Sex is also known to increase the health of your heart due to increased activity during sex.

Tips For Pleasurable Sex

Having open and honest conversations is the first step in enjoying pleasurable sex. When you and your sexual partner(s) communicate your sexual needs to each other and work towards pleasing each other, you can have satisfactory sexual encounters. Understanding erogenous zones and knowing what your partner(s) is in the mood for is also a great way to have better sex.

Sexual pleasure is encouraged for both men and women. However, for it to happen, it’s crucial to understand and accept your body, and also work towards knowing what is sexually pleasurable to you.
